Living off the Grid

By Jason Young. Living off the Grid is definitely a lifestyle.  It may be more work, but the work is enjoyable & has a sense of accomplishment.  I had the pleasure of having an off the grid listing, which was also an exclusive listing versus MLS.  The reasoning for this approach was because I wanted to find the "right Buyer", the 'perfect match' for the lifestyle & way of life.  After 'niche' marketing, several interests online & a couple of showings, we found that the 'Right Fit'.
Our niche marketing approach works for the owner that loves their property, is not in a rush to sell & wants assurance that the Buyer will continue the current use.
Below are a few photos that were attached to the listing which was full of information, videos & a nearby secluded public beach.

My Monday morning Breakfast

@Chesterfields_ has got to have the best coffee around. For a great atmosphere & free wifi, you have to stop by & say "Hi" to Graham.

Graham is always hard at work.

Basement Reno Part 2

Taking out the brick is by far the hardest part. This video shows my way of taking out the waste.

The hammering continues....

Some time to do Homework Part 1

The majority of my time is spent helping people finding the right home for them; selling their home so that they can move on in life or just to evaluate their net property worth. So much time is spent on the road, in the office, on the computer that there is very little time spent at my house. When I do have spare time, it's spent at the soccer pitch or at the T-ball diamond. I have set some time aside for some much needed work on my place.
The basement has been pretty much a useless space. I want to reno it into a family room with a spacious laundry/2 piece bathroom & if possible an office, so I can at least take business calls in private without having kids fighting in the background.
My renovations have started. First the demolition. All of the panelling has been ripped off. Now the solid brick wall is coming down behind the fireplace. It is way more solid than I thought. Needless to say, it's an on-going process. Here's a couple of pics...

Is your screen door letting mosquitos in? Time to fix the screen.

Our screen door was initially compromised when our cat gouged holes through it. As months passed & kids pushing on it, the screen finally gave out & I ended up ripping it out. When the screen was in, there was a refreshing cross-breeze.. now without it & the fact that hydro is so high I think it's time I took matters into my own hands.

Attempt #1
I took a drive up to the hardware store & purchased a black, fibreglass roll of screen, a ribbed spline & a tool for pushing the spline into the groove of the door. Now the fun part... I asked my brother-inlaw how he fixed his. He told me, "I just dropped it off at the hardware store & they fixed it for me." That will be my last resort.

I think that I will start off with pictures.

Overall I completed the task at hand in 2 attempts. The 1st attempt was halted when I ripped the screen in one spot with the spline tool. I rotated the screen a quarter turn & was able to avoid the damaged part.

A great place for a walk or climb in Prince Edward County

Family walks are great outdoor activities to do in Prince Edward County. I will note some places to check out in my Blog. This one is quite picturesque. There will be more to follow with the nice weather.
